A bald eagle, perching on a post in Kootenai NWR, seemed to be watching the activities of these water fowl,
and might be looking for a weak one as the potential prey.
Pend Oreille River along scenic Highway 20 in northeast Washington State. Our return route from Montana
through Idaho and Washington State to Seattle Airport was quite pleasant, mostly along the valleys between
mountains with beautiful blue colored river as shown above accompanied by ospreys and salmons as shown in

Many Canada geese, blue heron and other water fowl were flying or on the ponds in Kootenai NWR.

In National Bison Range in Montana, we saw another deer with small antler covered with velvet.
Each year, there are large number of mature big salmons returning from Pacific Ocean swimming up the
beautiful blue colored and mighty Columbia River to their birth places to spawn. Therefore, these dams all have
fish ladders, like this one, to help salmons to overcome the obstacles imposed by these dams on their returning
journey up the mighty Columbia River.
